I am a hypochondriac of sorts.
And there are certain things you just do not say to people of this disposition.
You don’t bring up fungal infections or cancer or pregnancy.
I’m not even joking. Once my shoulder hurt and I convinced myself I had bone cancer. In reality, that’s perfectly silly and I got over it. But I can spend quite a long time worrying about silly things.

Having once been a smoker, I have a set of friends who are accustomed to seeing me with a cigarette between my lips. It is common courtesy to offer a cigarette from your pack if you are sitting among friends. Having quit over a year ago, I now decline. Some just accept that, it means that their pack of cigarettes lasts a little bit longer (by one cigarette) and continue conversation.
